PASSIONATE ABOUT CREATING SUSTAINABLE WOOD-ALTERNATIVE PRODUCTS.

Geo Culture pine wood shavings offer South African homes, stables, and farms a clean, comfortable, and eco-conscious bedding option crafted with care at Lourensford in Somerset West. Made from responsibly sourced pine, our shavings are processed to achieve a soft, fluffy texture with minimal dust, creating a healthier environment for horses, poultry, and other animals.

The clean, natural pine scent adds freshness to any stable or coop, while the shavings’ excellent absorbency helps bedding stay tidy and easy to maintain. With no chemicals or additives, you can trust that your animals are resting on pure, natural pine that’s gentle on skin, hooves, and respiratory systems.

Driven by Sustainability

Sustainability is a core part of our philosophy. Any dust removed during processing is transformed into our high-quality wood pellets, ensuring that nothing goes to waste and every part of the material is used responsibly. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What type of wood are the shavings made from?
Our wood shavings are produced from pine logs, including Pinus radiata. Because wood is a natural material, the colour, texture and shaving size may vary slightly from batch to batch.
What animals are the wood shavings suitable for?
Our wood shavings are supplied as bedding for horses and poultry. As bedding requirements may vary between animals and farming systems, customers should confirm that the product is suitable for their specific application.
Are the wood shavings dust-extracted?
The shavings are processed and screened to reduce excess fine material and dust. However, as this is a natural wood product, it cannot be guaranteed to be completely dust-free. Customers caring for animals with respiratory sensitivities should obtain appropriate professional guidance before use.
What packaging sizes are available?
Wood shavings are available in approximately 12 kg plastic bags and 1 m³ bulk bags. As shavings are a natural product sold by volume, the exact bag weight may vary depending on the moisture content, density and shaving size.
How should wood shavings be stored?
Store wood shavings under cover in a clean, dry and well-ventilated area. Keep the bags raised off the ground and protected from rain and moisture. Wood shavings are combustible and must be stored away from open flames, sparks and other ignition sources.
Can used wood shavings be composted?
Yes. Natural wood shavings can generally be composted, including shavings used as animal bedding, provided they have not been contaminated with chemicals or other unsuitable materials. Used bedding should be composted responsibly and allowed sufficient time to break down before use. Local waste-management requirements should also be followed where applicable.
